Johnny Macs opens in Sneads

Johnny Macs Wood Fire Grill restaurant opened in the McDaniels Piggly Wiggly Shopping Center on Route 90 in Sneads this past Thursday afternoon.

The restaurant is owned by Jonathan and Molly McDaniel, who also own Piggly Wiggly. McDaniel said they have owned the restaurant building for some time, but that the building had been run down by the last restaurant that tried and failed to succeed in the location.

So the McDaniels decided that rather than rent the building to someone else, they would open their own restaurant. Johnny Macs’ menu features steaks, burgers and chicken and will expand when the restaurant opens for longer daytime hours in the near future.

A selection of desserts in glass jars seemed to be real hits on opening night, which appeared to be a success. Many local families showed up to sample the new eatery’s cuisine.

On the restaurant’s Facebook page, Christopher Traylor wrote, “Great atmosphere and wow some great food.”

Kimberly Johnson-Applewhite wrote, “Food was great and prices are so reasonable… Will be back real soon.”

Johnny Macs’ hours are 4-8 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays; 4-10 on Fridays; 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturdays and 10-3 on Sundays. The restaurant is closed Wednesdays.
