Seminole War re-enactment moved to Dothan this year

Due to severe damage in Chattahoochee from Hurricane Michael, this year’s Scott 1817 Seminole War Battle will be held at Landmark Park, 430 Landmark Dr., Dothan, Alabama.

The re-enactment will run all weekend – Saturday and Sunday, December 1-2.

Chattahoochee Main Street officials say the event will return to Chattahoochee next year.

In addition to the re-enactment and associated activities, this year’s event will partly serve as a fundraiser for Hurricane Michael victims in Chattahoochee. Event organizers will collect donations throughout the weekend.

The Scott 1817 Seminole War Battle Re-enactment was established in 2017 to mark the 200th anniversary of the first U.S. defeat of the Seminole Wars.

It’s a “two-day living history event and battle reenactment”  featuring “demonstrations, encampments, exhibits and more,” organizers say.
