A 29-year-old man was killed and a woman was seriously injured Monday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash on Iron Bridge Road in Gadsden County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at about 2:28 p.m. Sept. 15 near Lakeview Drive.
According to the Highway Patrol, the man, of Port St. Lucie, was driving a sedan south on County Road 153, also known as Iron Bridge Road, with a female passenger from Tallahassee.
Investigators said the vehicle traveled onto the western shoulder of the roadway and began to overturn. The sedan then struck a tree and came to rest on its driver’s side, facing west.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger was taken to Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare with incapacitating injuries. Her age was not provided in the Highway Patrol report.
Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt, according to the report. Their names were not released.
Iron Bridge Road was closed in the area while troopers investigated the crash.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.
The Havana Police Department, Havana Volunteer Fire Department and Gadsden County Emergency Medical Services assisted the Florida Highway Patrol at the scene.
