Bear Creek Bethel Missionary Baptist Church — affectionately known as “The Creek” — is joyfully celebrating a significant milestone: its 138th Anniversary. The commemorative service will be held Sunday, July 20, at 3 p.m. at 3476 Old Federal Road, Quincy, and promises to be a spiritually enriching gathering for all in attendance.
Pastor Ervin Montgomery and the congregation of St. John Missionary Baptist Church of Tallahassee will lead the worship service.
Founded in 1887, Bear Creek Bethel M.B. Church has remained a steadfast beacon of faith in Gadsden County, preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ through scripture, prayer, and praise. For more than a century, The Creek has served as both a spiritual refuge and a catalyst for community transformation.
“We are grateful for the 138th anniversary of the Creek’s service, which has been sustained through God’s grace and guidance,” said Pastor Terrence D. Milton. “This celebration not only honors our history but also represents a recommitment to the work God continues to do through us.” True to its motto, “A Caring Church for Changing Times,” The Creek is deeply rooted in service to others. The church maintains a strong tradition of community outreach, offering:
- Back-to-school bookbag giveaways
- Coordinating Farm Share and Second Harvest food distributions
- Thanksgiving baskets for senior citizens
- Christmas gift cards and toys for youth
- Prison and jail ministry
The church’s legacy of service is woven into its mission to uplift and support residents of Quincy and the surrounding areas through both spiritual and tangible acts of love.
Bear Creek family, warmly invites the entire community to join in the celebration. For more information, contact Deacon Dewayne Gainous at (850) 510-0612.
