Chattahoochee Elementary school salutes its finest

Dressed up and suited for a special celebration, Teacher of the Year Mrs. Ira House and School-Related Employee of the Year Mr. Dexter Thigpen received accolades and applause on May 26 for consistently exceeding expectations at Chattahoochee Elementary School.
The honorees made a grand entrance into the afternoon luncheon, greeted by the enthusiastic clapping of their peers. Members of the teaching staff, administration, and school-related employees collaborated to create an awesome tribute to celebrate their dedication as true “Yellowjacket Champions.”
Beverly Griffin served as the mistress of ceremonies, seamlessly guiding the 3 p.m. festivities. The program kicked off with a warm welcome from Sharon Lee, followed by personalized poems for each honoree delivered by Cynthia Bryant, and the blessing of the food by Sarah Graham.
Following the meal, Mrs. House and Mr. Thigpen were showered with gifts from various staff members and classrooms. The highlight of the presentations was the awarding of commemorative plaques by Principal Zola Akins and Assistant Principal Sallie Murphy. Adding a personal touch to the afternoon, Principal Akins spoke on behalf of Mrs. Ira House, while Juanita Thigpen shared remarks on behalf of her brother, Dexter Thigpen.
