Chattahoochee residents with green thumbs—or those looking to grow one—are invited to a free public meeting on Tuesday, June 24, hosted by Chattahoochee Main Street.
The meeting will begin at 5 p.m. at the Cowen Public Library, located at 300 Maple Street, and will feature a presentation by Donna Arnold, Residential Horticulture Agent for the FAMU/UF/IFAS Extension in Gadsden County.
Arnold will introduce a new community garden project launched in partnership with a local church and unveil the “Seed It Your Way” initiative. The program is designed to promote neighborhood gardening, improve food access, and support sustainable practices throughout Gadsden County.
In addition to the talk, the event will include a community seed swap. Attendees are encouraged to bring seeds to share and exchange, packaged in small labeled containers or ziplock bags with the plant type and variety clearly marked.
Organizers say the event offers something for everyone—from experienced growers to first-time gardeners—and encourages community members to connect over a shared love of gardening. Light refreshments will be provided.
