Last week, The Town of Havana broke ground at the site of a brand new public safety complex that will house the police and fire stations.
Although funding for construction of Havana’s new public safety complex has been secured, the town does not have enough money to furnish the building.
To help fill the gap, a group of local residents is organizing a golf tournament to raise money for furnishings.
The tournament will be held Friday, Aug. 15, 2025, at the Havana Golf and Country Club. The format is three-man select-a-shot with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. The team entry fee is $300.
Entry forms are available at Stone’s in Havana or the Havana Golf and Country Club. Interested participants can also contact Vic Vickers at (850) 599-2623 or Nick Bert at (850) 545-6304.
Organizers hope to raise more than $20,000 to help furnish the new building, which will serve residents of Havana and surrounding areas by modernizing and centralizing police and fire services.
Sponsorships are available at $100, $250, $500, and $1,000. All sponsors will be recognized in the local newspaper, at the tournament, and at the Havana Cecil Trippe Municipal Building for the remainder of the year. Those contributing at the $500 and $1,000 levels will also have their names engraved on a plaque to be displayed inside the new complex.
Sponsorships may be mailed to Ron Tiller, 302 Live Oak Ln W, Havana, FL 32333, or hand delivered to the Havana Police Dept on 7th Avenue E., Havana.
The town’s current police station on East 7th Avenue, which previously housed Havana Town Hall until the mid-1970s, has long been in poor condition. Town officials say the new facility will help meet modern needs and better serve the community.
