Elephant Refuge North America (ERNA), a project of Elephant Aid International (EAI), has announced a new opportunity for donors to support elephant welfare through an immersive, behind-the-scenes experience at its facility.
The Private Immersion Experience (PIE) is available to individuals who contribute $10,000 or more to the campaign. The experience includes a half-day private visit to ERNA for the donor and one guest, providing a firsthand look at the refuge’s autonomy-focused care practices for captive-held elephants.
Guests will tour the refuge in an open-air utility vehicle alongside EAI founder Carol Buckley and her team. During the visit, participants will observe how elephants live in a natural environment that emphasizes dignity, freedom, and respect. The program highlights EAI’s approach to rehabilitation and long-term care, with a focus on education and non-invasive observation.
“This is more than a visit,” said Carol Buckley. “It’s an invitation to witness the quiet strength of elephants and the deep intention behind every aspect of their care. Your support helps us create a safe, respectful space where elephants can thrive.”
Physical interaction with the elephants is not permitted, and all guests must sign EAI’s visitor agreement in advance. Photography and social media sharing require prior approval. Portions of the visit may involve outdoor exposure and uneven terrain.
Space in the program is limited to maintain an intimate experience. Once a donation is confirmed, EAI will assist with scheduling. Travel and lodging arrangements are the responsibility of the guests.
