A 56-year-old Quincy man was killed Saturday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of U.S. Highway 90 and State Road 267, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at approximately 2:36 p.m. July 18 in Gadsden County.
According to the preliminary investigation, the man was driving a pickup truck west on U.S. Highway 90 in the outside lane as he approached the intersection with State Road 267. Investigators said the driver lost control of the vehicle while traveling through the intersection.
The pickup traveled onto the north shoulder of U.S. Highway 90, striking several fixed objects before continuing northwest. The vehicle came to rest partially on the north shoulder and partially in the CVS parking lot, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The driver was transported from the scene to HCA Florida Gadsden Emergency by Gadsden County Emergency Medical Services, where he was pronounced dead.
A 68-year-old Quincy woman who was riding as a passenger suffered minor injuries. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, she was wearing a seat belt. The driver was not wearing a seat belt, the report states.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the crash remains under investigation.
The Florida Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by Gadsden County Emergency Medical Services, the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office and Gadsden County Fire Rescue.
