Green grass and golden blooms brighten Havana

Erin Hill
Gadsden County News SerivceA welcome splash of green and color is brightening Havana thanks to the latest Yard of the Month selections from the Havana Garden Club.
The Residential Yard of the Month honors Terry and David Norman, whose home at 104 Magnolia Circle stood out during a time when many lawns across town have faded to winter brown. After driving through several neighborhoods, Garden Club members were drawn to the Normans’ yard for one simple reason — it was still lush and green.
Terry Norman shared that the couple completely replaced their lawn with Zoysia grass last year, a decision that has clearly paid off. The thick, healthy turf offered a refreshing contrast to the season and showcased the benefits of thoughtful landscaping and long-term planning.

A bright green and yellow storefront with blue planters and hanging decorations frames glass double doors, while a black cat walks across the sidewalk in front.

The Commercial Yard of the Month award goes to Sandy Bolt, owner of Weekend Finds, located at 212 N. Main St. downtown. Bolt recently refreshed her outdoor pots with bright yellow daffodils and cheerful pansies, creating a display that instantly lifts spirits.
The colorful arrangement brings an early hint of spring to downtown Havana and adds charm to the shopping district, welcoming customers with vibrant blooms and seasonal flair.
Each month, the Havana Garden Club recognizes properties that enhance the beauty of the community and inspire others to take pride in their outdoor spaces.
