Bear Creek Bethel Missionary Baptist Church concluded a powerful three-night revival with a jubilant celebration of its 138th church anniversary on Sunday, July 20. The spiritually enriching services brought together members and guests from across the region to reflect, rejoice, and recommit to the church’s mission of faith and service.
The revival, themed “Revive, Renew, Restore,” drew inspiration from the scriptures Ezekiel 37:1–6, Isaiah 40:28, and Psalm 51:10–12. Each night, a different guest pastor delivered a dynamic Word that aligned with the nightly themes:
Night 1– Revive
Pastor Barry Young, Mt. Olive M.B. Church
Scripture: Ezekiel 37:1–6
“I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live.”
Night one will focus on spiritual resurrection, as the Word brings dry bones to life and stirs up faith in weary souls.
Night 2 – Renew
Pastor Julius Harris, New Jerusalem M.B. Church
Scripture: Isaiah 40:28–31
“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength…”
This night centers on restoration of strength and stamina to press forward, even when life feels overwhelming.
Night 3 – Restore
Pastor LaNorris McFadden, Shady Grove #1 P.B. Church
Scripture: Psalm 51:10–12
“Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.”
The final night will focus on inner healing and divine joy—inviting God to do a work of restoration in every heart. The revival led into the church’s 138th Anniversary Celebration on Sunday afternoon, which featured guest preacher Pastor Ervin Montgomery and the congregation of St. John Missionary Baptist Church of Tallahassee. Pastor Montgomery delivered a rousing sermon that honored the church’s legacy and challenged attendees to continue being “A Caring Church for Changing Times.”
As part of the anniversary program, Sister Regina Dukes delivered a heartfelt reflection on the church’s journey through time.
“Over the last 138 years, Bear Creek Bethel has served as a symbol of love, hope, and strength,” Dukes said. “It has been a beacon of light that has shone far beyond the confines of these four walls—spreading love and inspiration, and fostering connections, collaborations, and camaraderie throughout the community.”
Since its founding in 1887, Bear Creek Bethel M.B. Church — “The Creek” — has remained a pillar of faith and compassion in the Gadsden County community. The church continues to demonstrate God’s love through its outreach programs.
Pastor Terrence D. Milton expressed gratitude for the church’s legacy and renewed commitment to serving God and the community.
“This celebration is not only a look back at our history but a recommitment to the work God continues to do through us,” Pastor Milton said.
The entire community was warmly invited to participate in the revival and anniversary celebration, with many expressing how moved they were by the week’s spirit-filled events.
