Bear Creek Bethel Missionary Baptist Church was awash in crimson Saturday, September 6th as women dressed in red filled the sanctuary for the church’s 3rd Annual “Women in Red” service, themed Awakened, Aligned, Assigned.
The evening featured guest speaker Pastor Marilyn Barnes of New Direction Christian Center in Quincy. Known for her dynamic preaching, Barnes delivered a passionate message drawn from Romans 13:11, urging the congregation to “wake up” spiritually and embrace God’s assignment for their lives.
“Awake, get prepared,” Barnes told attendees. “It’s time to pay attention to what is going on and don’t be lazy. Align yourself — come out of darkness into the light. And know that if you are here, God has an assignment for you.”
Missionary Bernaldyne Hamilton of New Harvest Ministries in Bainbridge, Ga., served as mistress of ceremonies, keeping the service flowing with warmth and enthusiasm. A heartfelt welcome was given by Mother Angela Gainous, co-chair of the program.
The event’s guiding scripture, Romans 13:11, evolked the congregation that “our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.” The verse calls for Christians to cast off sinful behaviors and embrace Christ’s presence with renewed faith.
The atmosphere was electric as the Bear Creek choir and the congregation lifted their voices in song, filling the sanctuary with joy and praise. Women clad in red symbolized the blood of Jesus, as well as strength, courage and passion.
Beyond the spiritual enrichment, the service also served a practical purpose: raising funds to support construction of Bear Creek’s future fellowship hall, which will serve as a hub for community gatherings and ministry work.
Rev. Terrence D. Milton, pastor of Bear Creek Bethel M.B. Church, said the service has become a cherished tradition. “The ‘Women in Red’ reminds us of the power of unity, faith, and the vital role women play in the church and community,” he said.
Bear Creek Bethel’s motto is “A Caring Church for Changing Times,” and its programs are designed to uplift the community through service, compassion, and the Word.
Worship services are held on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Sundays of each month at 11:00 a.m. at 3476 Old Federal Road, Quincy, Florida.
