Gadsden County News ServiceA special invitation for a Memorial Day celebration and kickball showdown event at Sneads Park was announced in April as a free community event by Brandon Mcintyre. The invitation advertised that vendors, food trucks, yard sellers, and small businesses would be able to set up for free and the event would be hosted by an organization named Let’s Go Florida.
“Our upcoming Memorial Day Family Celebration at Sneads Park is not about politics— it’s about honor, unity, and service. It’s about remembering the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for this country and creating a space where families in our community can come together in their memory,” Mcintyre wrote in a social media post.
The town of Sneads recently denied the approval of the alleged organization named Let’s Go Florida to hold a special Memorial Day event at Sneads Park. The Let’s Go Florida organization did not receive approval from the town council before advertising the Memorial Day event.
When conducting an internet and social media search no official website or media pages could be found about an organization named Let’s Go Florida.
According to the Town of Sneads (City Hall), all organized activities at Sneads Park must be approved by them and the Army Corp of Engineers in conjunction with the town’s recreational department to avoid any liability issues or scheduling conflicts. The Memorial Day Celebration & Kickball Showdown event was not approved, and Let’s Go Florida has no affiliation with the town.
The 6th Annual Ride by Memorial Day Procession is still a go for May 26. The event has been approved and is sponsored by the Sneads Carlisle Rose Garden Club. The starting point for the procession will begin at Adam Tucker Wilson Park on Legion Road. The line up will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the procession will begin at 10 a.m. Central Standard Time.
