Gadsden County Probation and community partners provided coats, blankets and winter accessories to residents in need during a Winter Relief Drive Giveaway held Saturday, Jan. 31.
The giveaway took place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Joe Ferolito Recreation Center, 122 N. Graves St., in Quincy.
According to organizers, both new and used items were distributed while supplies lasted. Distribution was limited to one coat or blanket per person, and individuals were required to be present to receive items.
Yuri Moore with the Gadsden County Probation office said about 40 families benefited from the giveaway. Moore said some of the leftover supplies were donated to Gadsden County’s Cold Weather Shelterz.
The event was presented through Gadsden County Probation’s Helping Hands Initiative in partnership with Arnett Chapel A.M.E. Church and the Upsilon Theta Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc.
