Music will once again spill from front porches, storefronts and historic buildings throughout downtown Quincy when the 14th Annual Quincy Porchfest Music Festival returns Saturday, March 21.
The free festival, organized by Quincy Main Street, Inc., is scheduled from noon to 6 p.m. and will feature performances from 15 North Florida musical groups at locations throughout the downtown historic district. All venues are within walking distance of the Courthouse Square, allowing visitors to stroll between performances while exploring downtown.
This year’s event will also recognize the nation’s sesquicentennial by highlighting 250 years of American music. Organizers say the lineup will include a variety of genres ranging from Americana, country, folk and blues to rock, funk, soul and big band.
Visitors can begin the day by stopping at the Quincy Main Street office, located at 22 E. Washington St., to pick up a festival map and a list of musicians and performance locations.
In addition to live music, downtown restaurants, shops and cultural attractions will be open throughout the day. Visitors can explore stores around the Courthouse Square, view art exhibits at the Gadsden Arts Center and Museum, or participate in creative activities at the ArtZone, a free drop-in art studio open to the public.
Several restaurants near the square, including Bantam Bay and Company, Big Papa’s Chophouse, La Cabaña and Burned Beard Brewing, will be open for lunch. Food trucks and a beer garden will also be located at the corner of North Duval and East Franklin streets, with beverages available in front of the Quincy Main Street office.
The festival will conclude with a performance by the 22-piece Thursday Night Music Club beginning at 4 p.m. on the stage of the historic Leaf Theater at Quincy Music Theatre.
Parking will be available throughout downtown, and attendees are welcome to bring lawn chairs, blankets, bikes, scooters and wagons while traveling between venues.
