On January 25, the COLLECT Select Exhibition officially debuted at the Gadsden Arts Center & Museum.
The exhibit, which featured the work of some of Florida and the Southern United States most accomplished artists, served as a fundraising opportunity for the arts center, as the displayed works were auctioned off via silent auction – with the proceeds split 50/50 between the artist and the arts center.
The COLLECT Select Exhibition presented works by artists Natalia Andreeva, Steve Andrews, Clyde Butcher, Niki Butcher, Joe Claborn, Mark Georgiades, Chuck Manning, Mark Messersmith, William H. McKeown, Danny O’Driscoll, Eluster Richardson, Joe Roache, Robin Rodgers, and Dan Taylor.
Many of the artists were at hand during the opening reception on January 25 to meet with prospective art buyers and other attendees of the reception.
The reception was held in the Sara May Love Gallery at the Gadsden Arts Center, with appetizers and drinks served by center volunteers; those who attended were treated to a walk-through of the exhibit and a chance to discuss the art with the artists themselves.
“We are thrilled to have such great artists represented in this inaugural COLLECT exhibition,” said Grace Robinson, Executive Director at Gadsden Arts. “The idea is to have a depth of work by a short list of accomplished artists to create a quality exhibition. In this show, works range from natural realism, to impressionism, to abstraction by some of the biggest names in art here. We also introduce two artists whose work will be new to collectors here. We are honored to have so many of the
region’s top artists say yes when invited to be a part of this, and appreciate their help in raising
funds for Gadsden Arts programs in the community!”
Gadsden Arts is open Tuesdays through Saturdays, from 10 a.m. through 5 p.m.
Exhibition admission is free for all children, museum members, and children’s Field Trip participants. Admission for nonmember adults ranges from $3 for students to $10 for major exhibitions.
