Keepin’ it country

Dem Country Boys Motorcycle Club hosts its annual reunion and charity bike ride.

A weekend filled with laughter, games, and just “Keepin’ it Country.”
Family, friends, and bikers from all over joined together the past weekend to celebrate Dem Country Boys Motorcycle Club’s 22nd annual event.
Dem Country Boys was founded in 2002, starting with eight members in Sycamore.
Two of the founding members sat down, and were able to produce the group’s name and pledge. Now, the group has roughly 20 members, both active/ inactive, and goes by the slogan “Keepin’ it Country.”
Also, during 2002, members established an event called “First Friday,” which occurred every first Friday of each month.
After a few months of successful Fridays, the group started their annual weekend event.
The only time the event was canceled was during the height of the pandemic (2020/2021).
This year’s events started on Friday evening with a meet and greet at Dem Country Boys’ clubhouse, located in Rosedale (Chattahoochee).
Bikers came from as far as Tampa, St. Petersburg, West Palm Beach, and Birmingham, Ala. to enjoy one another, and all the different bikes.
There were vendors selling food, cigars, and other merchandise. Dem Country Boys also had their personal DJ, DJ ShowOut playing the latest hits.
Eventgoers mingled and danced the night away until midnight.
Friday’s festivities did not stop Saturday’s early morning annual charity ride from the Hampton Inn, Quincy, to the clubhouse.
Each year, all proceeds from the charity rides goes towards helping the elderly during Thanksgiving and giving toys to the kids during Christmas time, within Gadsden County.
When bikers and attendees arrived, they were greeted with food and smiles.
“This group is a brotherhood,” said Melvin Lowe (Mellow), a founding member/retired Country Boy.
“DCB isn’t just about riding bikes, the organization is big on giving to the community, our community.”
The eventful weekend concluded with the annual country dance.
The National Guard Armory in Quincy was filled with cowboy boots and Western attire.
Guests enjoyed great music, delicious food, and the full  experience of a Dem Country Boys’ shindig.
Of course, Dem Country Boys couldn’t let their guests leave without putting on an impressive performance with the help from Dem Country Cuties (the wives, daughters, nieces, and cousins of Dem Country Boys).
The dance was such a hit that individuals are already preparing for next year’s.
“My cousin and friend who came with me from Illinois have already mentioned they are ready for next year’s annual,” said Breanna Rittman, a Gadsden County native and current Normal, Illinois resident. “Once the festivities were over, they shared how DCB’s annual was better than any other motorcycle club event they’ve attended.”
DCB’s President Cliff Smith (Da Truth) and Vice President, Chris Carroll (Big C) closed the night out by thanking everyone for coming out and wishing safe travels to everyone who traveled near and far.
The motorcycle club is already gearing up their minds to prepare for next year. They are looking forward to seeing familiar and fresh faces at the next annual, but until then they said they will continue Keepin’ it Country.
