34 years of making Havana safe – Town of Havana wishes Havana Police Chief Tracy Smith a happy retirement

The Havana Town government held a retirement celebration for Chief of Police Tracy Smith on Wednesday, December 13.

The event took place at the Hazel Baker Community Center, and was organized as an open house, with the public encouraged to drop by anytime between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to wish Chief Tracy Smith well in his upcoming retirement.

Friends, family and colleagues enjoyed fellowship, cake and refreshments to mark the end of a 34 year career dedicated to making Havana a safe and happy place to live.

Aside from two cakes, cookies, and other refreshments, tables in the community center were decorated with gifts and photos of the chief throughout his long career with the Havana Police Department.

The community center was crowded throughout the afternoon as people turned up to wish Smith well, a testament to his popularity in Havana and the impact he had as Chief.
