High school ballers have exciting week

Gadsden County High School boys

The Jaguars lost two games prior to their win over Crossroad.

Tuesday Lincoln bopped Gadsden 59-46. 

In that game Brown had 18 and Taiwan Howard put in 12.

Thursday, Godby pounded the Jaguars 71-48 with Brown’s 9 points topping the Gadsden scoring.

After Friday’s win over Crossroad the Jaguars won a 69-19 game over Taylor County Saturday, with Brown again leading the way with 18 points. Howard and Kemarion Bostic had 10 each.

Gadsden High’s record is 6-2.

Gadsden County High School girls

The Gadsden County High girls defeated Leon 71-38 this past Tuesday before losing their first game this season 66-57 to Richards Friday.

Crossroad Academy boys

The Scorpions won a pair of running-clock games over district foes last Tuesday and Thursday before being nudged by county rival Gadsden County High Friday.

In the Tuesday 69-18 win over Aucilla, Deion Belford led the scoring with 13 points. Jalan Black and Deonta Jones also had notable stat games, as Black had an 11-point assist night and Jones had a 10-rebound, five-steal game.

In the Thursday 80-12 win over Tallavana, Paul Matthews scored 18, Jones had 13 and nine steals and De’Andre Lawson notched nine points.

Friday, the Scorpions led the Jaguars by 10 in the fourth quarter before Gadsden High rallied for a 59-56 win.

Lavontae Brown led the fourth quarter rally for the Jaguars and finished the game with 26 points.

Matthews led Crossroad with 17 and Belford and Black had 11 each.

Robert F. Munroe boys

It was an interesting week for the Bobcats, who won two of the three games they played.

Tuesday,  they smashed Tallavana 73-13, as Nasser Mohammed scored 15 points , Jabbon  Derico  added 14 and Max Reinhard scored 13.

In a Thursday 58-46 loss to Aucilla, Marco Atkins led the scoring with 18.

Monday in Albany, the Bobcats got by Byrne Academy 92-78 despite having three players foul out.

Reinhard had a big game for the Bobcats, scoring 24 points.

Atkins also had 24 points, and Derico hit 21 and came up with eight steals.

The win lifted Munroe’s record to 2-3.

Robert F. Munroe girls

The Lady Bobcats lost 33-25 to Tallavana Tuesday with Brook Smith shooting in 16 points.

Thursday Aucilla whacked Munroe 52-11.

The Lady Cats lost to Byrne 48-20 Monday.

Margery Boone scored 11 and Smith put in 10 points for Munroe.

Tallavana Christian boys

The Lion team lost to Munroe, Crossroad, and Sneads last week. They will not return to action until January.

Tallavana Christian girls

Deambernique Mason scored 22 in the Lion win over Munroe.

The Lion girls lost to Sneads 55-28 Friday.

They played at Lighthouse Christian Tuesday and will be off until January.

Sneads High School boys

After bagging a 61-55 win against Holmes County earlier in the week, this past Friday the Sneads High School boys varsity basketball team defeated Tallavana Christian in a sound homecoming win. 

The Pirates face Cottondale at home tomorrow evening, December 14. The game begins at 7 p.m.

The boys’ record is now 2-2 overall and 1-1 in district play.

Sneads High School girls

The Sneads High School girls have enjoyed quite a winning streak, not losing a game so far the entire month of December. 

This past week, the girls routed Holmes County, Vernon, Maclay and Tallavana Christian, boosting their overall record to an impressive 7-1 overall and 2-0 versus district rivals. 

The girls travel south this afternoon (Thursday, December 13) for a 4 p.m. matchup against Wewahitchka. Then Friday afternoon they play Cottondale in a 4:30 p.m. home game
