Born 2 Be A Man hosts 2nd ‘Take to the Lake’ event

A local mentoring organization recently took a group of teenage boys out to Lake Talquin to enjoy a weekend filled with fun in the sun.

Russell Harrison, the director of Born 2 Be A Man, said the non-profit organization works with local youth to increase their chances of being successful in life.

The mentors and mentees participated in a meet and greet on Friday, July 14, where Pastor Calvin Robinson prayed for a safe weekend.

That Saturday was spent on Lake Talquin, where the group caught a combined total of three fish but had a ball in the process.

The group also enjoyed a boat ride on Lake Talquin where they were able to sight see. Some even drove the boat.

Harrison said the Born 2 Be A Man’s second annual Take to the Lake event was made possible by many community partners including Clarissa Harrison, Ingram Marina, Mary Jack Greenlaw, Lt. William and Tiffany Buckhalt, Pastor Calvin Robinson and Bethlehem Church of God In Christ, Lamar Thomas, Chick-Fil-A, Sherita Baker, Larry and Seriana Bailey and the Lake Talquin community for making this event a success and one the boys will always remember.

He also said he would like to send a special thanks to the young men and their parents for their participation.
