Celebrating 35 years of Art in Gadsden

Gadsden Arts Center & Museum is celebrating the 35th anniversary of the Art in Gadsden Juried Exhibition. 

One-hundred featured works of art by 82 different artists will be on display starting Aug. 4 at 10 a.m.

Join other art-lovers that evening, August 4 at 5 p.m. for the Opening Reception & Awards Ceremony, open to everyone.

The exhibition continues Tuesdays – Saturdays 10 a.m. – 5 pm. through September 15.

During the first two days of the exhibition, August 4-5, the arts center and museum is also offering an Art in Gadsden art sale to benefit the artists and the museum. 

Gadsden Arts Center & Museum members can also enjoy special Artist’s Studio Tours for featured Art in Gadsden artists on August 12, 10 a.m. – 4p.m.

Everyone is welcome to join the museum for great programs like this.

The award-winning works for this year’s Art in Gadsden will be chosen by Katee Tully, a practicing artist and experienced arts professional. She lived in New York City for 12 years and then relocated to St. Petersburg, Florida, where she helped establish the Chihuly Collection. Tully is also a volunteer with FSU Women’s Leadership Institute, Gadsden Arts, and Quincy Main Street.

The Art in Gadsden exhibition has been promoting local artists and bringing fine art to Gadsden County for 35 years. When you visit, be sure to look out for a piece by exhibition founder Beth Appleton that celebrates the 35th year.

Families can also bring their children to the ArtZone every Saturday for exhibition-themed art-making and gallery activities, reading and free books from the Reading Corner sponsored by the National Hook-up of Black Women-Gadsden, and a free Art @ Home Kit, sponsored by TDS Telecom.

Gadsden Arts is located on the historic Courthouse Square in Quincy, Florida, just 20 miles from Tallahassee. Admission is free for all children ages 17 and under, families for the ArtZone, and for all GACM members. Exhibition admission is $5 for nonmember adults.
