Gadsden County High beats rival Godby and cli nch spot in playoffs

Last Friday night, Gadsden County High School went on the road across the county line to face rival Godby High School.

The Jaguars came into this game with a bitter taste in their mouth after losing in a double

overtime thriller the previous week to Walton High School, and 24-14 loss to the Godby Cougars last year.

The high scoring from the previous game carried over into the Godby game as well, with the help of 3 touchdowns by senior Nasir Williams and a solid defensive showing in the second half. Williams also had 7 receptions and 100 receiving yards for the game.Bodby

The Jaguars won in convincing fashion over the Cougars 46-28.

With the win, Head Coach Russell Ellington and the Jags will be playing postseason football after securing a spot in the 2S playoffs.

“It feels good”, Coach Ellington said. “It’s something to build on for years to come, and this shows the kids that hard work does pay off.”

This Friday, the Jags will be traveling to Kissimmee to take on the Gateway High School Panthers at 7pm in their regular season finale.
