All of Gadsden County’s municipalities will have seats up for election this year.
In Quincy, an election for districts 1 and 5 (held by Commissioners Keith Dowdell and Anissa Canidate, respectively) will be held.
At this point, Dowdell is running unopposed; Candidate is facing opposition from Quincy resident Beverly Nash.
In Chattahoochee, an election for districts 2 and 4 (held by Councilmembers Christopher Moultry and Ken Kimrey) will be held.
No candidates have yet qualified for these seats.
In Havana, an election for groups 1, 2, and 3 (held by Councilmembers Jenny Stone, DeCorkus Allen, and Dwight Vickers) will be held.
At this point, only Allen has filed for reelection, and has no opposition.
In Gretna, an election for seats 2, 4, and 5 (held by Gary Russ, Jr., Jeff McNealy, and James Payne) will be held.
At this point, all candidates are unopposed.
In Midway, an election for districts 1, 3, and 5 (held by Ella Parker Dickey, Braheem Russ, and NanDrycka King Albert) will be held.
Dickey is running unopposed at this time, but Albert is facing opposition from Roland Steele, and Russ is facing opposition from Stephanie Tolbert.
In Greensboro, an election for groups 1, 2, and 3 will be held; no one has filed for election as of press deadline on Tuesday, March 7.
The qualifying dates for all cities, excluding Midway, will begin on March 13 and end on March 17.
Midway’s qualifying date began on March 6 and ends on March 10.
Interested candidates may qualify before the official start of the qualifying period, but cannot enter their name as a candidate once the period has ended.
Campaigns must be registered before March 27.
A municipal candidate workshop will be held on March 21, from 3-5 p.m.
This workshop, organized by the Gadsden County Supervisor of Elections office will introduce new candidates, campaign managers, and candidate treasurers to campaign financing practices, how to file campaign reports, how to fundraise, political disclaimer rules, campaign sign regulations, voter lists, ballot harvesting, and third party voter registration forms.
