Members of the community turned out to welcome a new business to Chattahoochee on Wednesday, May 24.
Renevive Designs Furniture and Art Studio celebrated its grand opening at 11 a.m. with a ribbon cutting and refreshments.
The new shop is located at 111 West Washington Street in Downtown Chattahoochee, across the street from the post office.
“It’s furniture and home decor restoration and refinishing,” said Tiffany Stewart, owner of the new business. “I have antiques and newer pieces, some that are repainted and some that are just restored. It depends on the individual piece. I do custom orders as well, and I take other people’s items and commissions. So if they have an antique or family heirloom, something that they need repairs done to, I take those items as well. I also plan to take some items on consignment on a limited basis for people who want to sell.”
The current store hours are Thursday through Saturday 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., as Stewart also works full time at Florida State Hospital.
Originally from the Ocala/Gainesville area, Stewart is a graduate of the University of Florida, who is currently working on a master’s degree in Architectural Studies, also from the University of Florida.
Stewart has around five years of experience with furniture restoration, beginning as a flexible side job that she could spend more or less time working on while dealing with her school schedule.
“I kind of fell in love with it, and now I don’t want to stop,” Stewart laughs. “Originally it was only supposed to be temporary, but I really love finding pieces, especially those that have been neglected, and bringing them back to life.”
Stewart came to Gadsden County for an assignment with Americorps, really liked the area and chose to stay when the assignment ended.
“I want people to be able to find furniture and items they love for their spaces, without completely breaking the bank. Because where you’re at, your home, your comfort space, that is so important, and having the right pieces can really change how you feel about your environment, and they can really make it seem so much more like you.”
