Quincy businesses, churches, and families made their porches available once again to a host of local musicians for the 12th annual Porchfest, held this year on Saturday, March 16.
Hosted by Quincy Main Street, the concert takes place all over the historic district of the town, and is a unique way to spotlight both local businesses and local musical talent.
There is no admission charge, and the public are free to wander among the different performers as they wish, making for a day of music and fun.
The event also draws attention to local shops and restaurants who host musicians for the event.
This year saw 19 different musical acts spanning multiple genres perform in “shifts” at 12 locations in the Downtown Historic District.
Beginning at noon, Rachel Hillman played at Bantam Bay, Ronnie Randoph at Big Poppa’s Chop House, The Frank Craig Band at Lines, Hinson, and Lines, Del Suggs at the Millhouse Inn, Reese Cloud at the Auman House, Deja Blu at the Dismukes House, and the Ben Flournoy Trio at the Fletcher House.
From 2 p.m. until 3:30 p.m., Anna Wescoat played at the Gadsden Arts Center, Billy Rigsby at Lines, Hinson, and Lines, the Pharaohs of Funk at Centenary United Methodist Church, Tocamos Mas at the Auman House, the Tallahassee Uke Jammers at the McFarlin House, and Hot Mess at the Fletcher House.
Finally, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Brett Wellman and Stone Cold Blues played at Centenary United Methodist Church, the Jerry Thigpen Trio at the Fletcher House, Latin Soul Orchestra at the C.R. Shaw House, Chris James at the McFarlin House, Hot Tamale at the Auman House, and the Thursday Night Music Club at First Presbyterian Church.
