Snead’s perfect first season leads to second season playoffs

Last week, the Sneads Pirates brought home a win of 72-42 over the Freeport Bulldogs.

It’s not unusual to see the Sneads Pirates football team winning and listed as one of the top Florida teams in Regional Playoffs but this year they topped that normalcy with a perfect 10-0 first season.

The Pirates may have a rare opportunity to face off with the Aucilla Christian Academy Warriors, or the Cottondale Hornets.

On November 11, the Warriors and Hornets will face each other…and the winner will go on to face the Pirates.

The Sneads High School coaching staff works to train up the best of the best when it comes to student athletes; the coaches say this is to help further the athletes’ careers through college and possible pro-ball leagues.

Scouts from Florida State University have already attended ball games at Sneads and invited RB Jason Patterson (#5) and Quarterback Aven Tyus (#16) to be a guest on the sidelines of a game.

This year has truly been a great one for the student athletes, especially Patterson who made a total of five touchdowns plus a two-point conversion in Freeport adding up a total of 25 carries and 32 points for his Pirate team.

Tyus scored his signature touchdown of the game with a total of 65 passing yards, Dalton Brown (#9) ran in a 30-yard touchdown, Dominic Goodwin (#18) made two touchdowns and Jonathan Green (#33) scored one as well.

Now the clock is ticking down as everyone anxiously awaits the final decision of who will play in the finals

It is planned for next week’s November 19 game to be played at Sneads so if everything pans out “Pack the Stands” is always a request as a show of community support for the Sneads Pirates Football Team.
