The Sneads Lady Softball Team is crushing the season with a 6-3 overall standing. This year is already proving to be full of impressive accomplishments and fun times for the ladies as they continue to push themselves to be their best.
The Lady Pirates lost their first game of the season against the Liberty County Bulldogs 14-2, but that was just a warmup for plenty of victorious achievements to come. By February 29th they had seized a four-game winning streak and piled up a lot of confidence. Their wins included beating the North Florida Christian Eagles twice during that timetable in which one game lasted 9 innings. They also bagged wins against the Chiles Timberwolves and Graceville Tigers.
On March 7 the ladies traveled to Wewahitchka and after a tough game of trying to gain 3 extra points over the Gators for a win they just were not able to bring home the win. The final score was 7-5, but the defeat did not alter their determination and they still have a long list of games to play this year.
March 12 and 13 were winning days. The ladies scored 13-7 over the Cottondale Hornets and 10-9 over the Port St. Joe Tiger Sharks. The Marianna Bulldogs took the next win on March 14 of 7-2, but even with accumulating the recent loss they are excited to practice this week and get back to running bases.
Varsity Baseball Update
The baseball teams overall standing for this season is 4-5 and the varsity boys are pushing forward to play many more great games with some amazing athletes. The month of March started out a bit rocky with a loss against the Cottondale Hornets, but the young men quickly turned things around with three impressive victories in a row against the Altha Wildcats, Chipley Tigers, and Graceville Tigers. The Pirates then traveled to Franklin County on March 15 where the Seahawks both hosted and won the game with a good lead of 13-7.
The varsity boys look forward to traveling to Donalsonville, Georgia soon to play the Seminole County Indians and on to Bonifay, Florida for a game with those Blue Devils.
The weather has proven to be a bit challenging as game schedules and locations for both the softball and baseball teams have changed up a little bit. Most everyone knows March is always a month full of thunderstorms which can present obstacles such as water puddles, slippery clay on the fields, and cancellations. If you are planning to attend a game be sure to keep up with game updates because they are subject to change at times.
