West Gadsden Historical Society open house moves to Memorial Day

Attend the West Gadsden Historical Society’s annual open house a little earlier this year.

The open house will offer the same experience as former years, but hopefully on a little cooler day.

On Memorial Day, the Greensboro Kiwanis Club will host their Annual Breakfast to honor veterans or surviving family members at 8 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Greensboro.

At 10 a.mWest Gadsden Historical Society will open both museums for viewing. Visit the Military Room, located at the Dezell house, where honor soldiers of Gadsden County who lost their lives during the Civil War, World War I, World War II, the Korean Conflict, Vietnam and the Iraqi War are honored.

An exhibit of uniforms, war time memorabilia and a listing of all those who perished are memorialized. A special recognition to those service members who are still with us will be honored.

Take a moment to visit with these individuals as they share their war-time experiences.

New exhibits and items have been added to both locations.

Coastal Seafood will be serving seafood at the Dezell House from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and the historical society’s famous desserts will be available.

The Dezell House is located at 328 E. 8th Street in Greensboro and Greensboro Railroad Depot Museum is located at 115 Duffle Avenue in Greensboro.
